Just curious, since I've been following these forums I check in maybe a dozen times or so during the course of a day since I have broadband Internet and so I'm always "online". Frequently the server is very slow to respond or isn't up at all. Anyone else seeing this?
I see it now and then when i'm on cable modem at church, but when i'm at home on my 56K dialup i never have any troubles. I'm guessing we're just maxing out what their server can handle. IIS is a rather inefficient server platform.
While it is possible that sofo's webservers are down, I would sincerely doubt it. I'd say "blame it on your crappy cablemodem isp". I ditched my cable modem and went back to DSL after having oodles of issues with it (@home)
I don't have a "crappy" cable connection, I've got high speed wireless. Also, had the same server problems while using dial-up when trying to connect to SoFo. Could be a faulty router I'm going through if it isn't Sofo's server or maybe just heavy traffic. Just happened again now while first going to the Sofo site today. Got a no such page error when clicking on the link in my favorite list, so the URL was good. Second time, got in with no trouble.
OK, I just wanted to get a rip on the cable modem providers out there, as ALL of my experience with them, and all of the people that I know have been "crappy".
It sounds like some bad proxy server or something. <shrug>
Shame about your experience with broadband. All the telco's where I am are foot dragging and unless you're near the telephone company's CO, DSL isn't a choice. I went with a local upstart company offering wireless. Only a pilot project up so far with micro cells. Get 200-300 Mbps now. Not one outage or problem or any kind of problem. Had it for a couple months so far. Once up on the town's water towers will be offering 1500Mbps. It sure beats dial-up. :-)
