Anyone get WAX to work?

mtnmiller wrote on 5/12/2008, 8:44 AM
After doing some searching on Google and this forum, I haven't come across anything definitive on how to get WAX plugin to work on later versions of Vegas. I'm using Vegas 7.0

In particular, I'm trying to get the transitions to work, but keep getting the "Unable to find video event length..." message.

Is there a workaround to access these transitions, or is WAX just a bust when it comes to Vegas 7&8?

Thanks.

No no never I think we are thinking in line of hot fluid wax
this wax is cold hard when you try to use it my whole project stiffens and freezes like wax hey so maybe it is working

I have it in V8 but have not tried to use it yet. Just tried the FX's and they don't work.

I've not ever been able to get it to work and know of no-one in the last 3 versions who has, so I'm pretty sure the answer is a straight no.

It worked fine in earlier versions of Vegas (V4 and V5 for sure). It was sometimes a little flaky, and definitely not easy to use. Also, Vegas introduced some 3D moves a few revs back, and that was one of the reasons (although not the only reason) to use it.

Actually it seems I've just come across a solution that appears to be working.

Going into Preferences and clicking the Use Dummy Host Media box seems to have done the trick.

Your solution seems to be confirmed in this thread from the Wax forum at debugmode.com:

WAX no preview in Vegas 7.0b

I have never been able to get wax to work either, but Debug used to have PlugInPac download available which they have now discontinued. Why I have NO idea because part of it has a 3D plugin which I use religiously. Just the other day I used it in conjunction Pro titler to create a 3D title like the Star wars one that fades INTO the back of the screen. There is also an adapter that allows you to use vdub filters with vegas too.

If you need it then cough up your email ad and I'll send it to you. (pluginpac.zip is about 300kb)

I did get WAX to work with V 7.0d using the workaround I posted earlier in this thread. However, it is still a little flaky ...
