anyone having trouble with mpeg 2 and Vegas 5d?

I've been doing some extensive trouble shooting and, for me, Vegas 5d's mpeg 2 encoder is not a happy camper. I can't render to mpeg 2 for any length of time (about 240 megs) without an error message popping up:

"An error occurred while creating the media file ____________.mpg.
The reason for the error could not be determined."

- thus I can't render to HDV m2t to export back to the Sony Z1 - in Vegas 5d. I can do it in Vegas 5b...Just trying to find out if it's just me or are other people having any trouble?

Thanks a bunch for any info,
Yoyodyne

No, I have not had that problem. I have run into problems with stuff burned to dvd getting fuzzy/blurry if you fast forward or use other such commands. Wish I knew what that problem was, but it doesn't sound like it's related to your issues.

Just to clarify - I've also had trouble rendering to m2t - mine cuts out at 287Mb, so I've never been able to render ready to print back to Z1 camera.

But, MPEG2 rendering for DVD purposes has been ok.

Thanks Peter - man, I am really stumped. This whole thing seems so un-Vegas...I can't imagine whats different in version d that would cause such a problem...

No problemo rendering to mpeg-2 here either using 5d and I've done some pretty intensive encodes, upto 20 hours in a straight run using Multirenderer.
Sure you didn't add/subtract anything else?
As far as I'm aware 5d only added some new templates, no change in the code base although they've never officially said anything about it which does suck, you'd think they'd step up tp the plate to dispel any of the FUD.

I just had this happen last night. I don't think this is an MPEG-2 rendering issue. I also don't think it is specific to Vegas. Are you using any Firewire drives, and are they turned on during your render? Also, is your DV camcorder connected and turned on? I would recommend shutting everything off (computer, external hard drives, and camera). Turn the computer on and re-boot. Then, connect and turn on only the external drive needed for the render. Do not connect or turn on anything else. See if you can get through the render.
