370? Do you mean DSR570 perhaps? If so, I have one here, (w/Canon zoom) and I'd be happy to talk to you about it offline, (email drdropout at sonicfoundry.com).
The DSR-370 has been Updated to the New DSR-390! It was on display at NAB and should be shipping in the near future.
Go to the Sony Professional Website and download the details and specs.
For Real World Advice - I'll offer you the following info:
The DSR-300 and 500 Line of Cameras are only as good as the lens that you put on it!
The Canon 18X Industrial Lens that is packaged frequently with these cameras is Junk!
If you are going to buy a New DSR-3XX Camera Package and have a choice between the Canon and Fugi Industrial Lens - pick the Fugi.
I own a DSR-500 with the Fuji Lens and have shot on the DSR-300 with the Canon Lens.
If your budget allows - Buy a DSR-500-570 over the DSR-300-390.
2/3" IT Chips vs. 1/2" Chips
Less Noise
Less Smear
4/3 and 16/9 Ratios
A Good Lens will make all the difference in the World with either of these cameras.
I have both a DSR 500 and a DSR 570, only difference is the latter ties into a CCU. It is a great camera, being native 16:9. The chipset is the same one used in the BetaSX DNV 9 WS camcorder. I'd think twice about the 3xx because it is strictly 4:3. One thing to bear in mind is this camera is DV Out ONLY. THe stock lens is not great for sure and if you shoot 4:3 you lose 20% of your width. However, in 16:9 the lens is adequate.
Look at the Ikegami 2/3 chip 16:9 camera. Its cheaper then the Sony and built like a rock--Just throw a high end piece of glass on their and you will be rocking---I think you can buy the body for 10,999 from B&H--go check out the Ikegami site-they are always running great deals.
PS> Ikegami is a great company that makes solid products.
