There is a basic hand-on tutorial that comes with Vegas. I've written several easy to follow tutorials others have too. Linked here:

What is your question?

BillyBoy,

Thanks for your reply. That site that the link is to, looks like it will be helpful to me. I have quite a few questions that I don't feel like typing tonight, but I'll type one now.

I am trying to get a title to appear on a picture that is at the start of my video, but cant figure out how to make it overlay it. I tried puting the title on a second video track at the same point where the picture is, but the title disapears after the picture fades in. I also tried taking the fade in, out, but it doesn't help.

It's hard to explain, but I tried.

If you think you can help me with this problem and if you feel like it, please e-mail me...... isawex@cox.net

Thanks,

Videomonster

I'll reply here in case others have the same problem, which is a common question.

Easy in Vegas. Many ways to do in fact. The quickest is add a secong track above, what I call a overlay track. Now open Text Backgrouds in version 3 or media gererators in version 4. Select Text. Drag the default text filter with the checkboard pattern to the higher track. Any text you type in it will float or be transparted in lower tracks. That's very basic. You can do credit rolls like you see in movies at the end, do 3D fly-ins, change color, etc.. Have fun!

Hi VM,

Many of these methods are covered in the Vegas 2.0 tutorials on the SoFo site:

http://www.sonicfoundry.com/tutorials/default.asp

(They are for an earlier version of Vegas, but are still are informative and enjoyable.)

Above is the link for "DV and Audio Production" book. Better than a CD, you can have the book open when you're working with VV3. Comes with Sound Forge XP and loops for Acid, etc.
