I notice distinct banding on my gradients that I never had in previous versions. Even if I change to 32 bit it looks no different. The banding is there in preview auto and best full....
In compositing gamma 1.000:
If you add 8-bit filters, Vegas will add dither to the image. I'm not sure why.
If you use 8-bit transitions, I believe you will get terrible banding due to a Vegas bug.
Some filters might behave very, very different (this might be where your "banding" is coming from???).
In compositing gamma 2.222 you should get those behaviours listed above.
You can still get banding, esp. if you take 8-bit sources (the gradient generator still seems to be 8-bit) and you do some aggressive levels/curves on it. This is not a deficiency of 32-bit processing.
I still have more testing to do, but the original banding I noticed that was there in preview even at best full, does not show up in the final render. Thank god!
