Anyone outputting to DVD in 30p or 23.976p 2:3 pulldown.
The past few years I have edited my avchd 1920x1080 60i footage and down converted to sd DVD interlace.
I have recently tried rendering my footage to 30p and 23.976p 2:3 pulldown
sd DVD format.
After viewIng the DVDs on my Sony 46" HDTV here's my conclusion. Down converting to DVD interlace looks soft and has annoying artifacts.
Down converting to 30p or 23.976p 2:3 pulldown looks much sharper and most of the artifacts are gone.
Here's my questions. DVD 30p or 23.976p 2:3 pulldown both have a strobing or choppy look during pans or movement. My feeling was that the 23.976p 2:3 pulldown footage was less annoying then the 30p during pans or movement.
I would like to know your feeling on this matter and how many of you are delivering DVDs in progressive format?
Also if I record in 30p or 24p instead of 60i would that make much of a difference?
