Has anyone tried any of these methods or another method for converting Stereo to 5.1 or higher surround sound for AC3 encoding in Vegas 4.0 + DVDA 1.0

All of my soundtracks to date have been PCM or 2-channel AC3 yet that link has an incredible number of different guides for converting them. I would like to try it, but there are too many choices there. So has anyone done this and been happy with the results or is there another guide you would recommend? Or even a guide to do this manually.
