Anyone tried the AMD Quad Phenom?

Just curious, really. I've seen a motherboard and chip package advertised at Fry's and it seemed pretty cheap. Haven't heard a peep about them, though.

I've only read that the first gen Phenoms have some issues (I don't know what that means) and some sites are recommending holding off until the next series is released. From what I have read, they aren't as fast as the Intel QC's but the price is much more reasonable for people like myself who already have AM2 socket MoBo's.

I'm debating whether to get one before the end of the year. If I can take it as a tax deduction, I might just get it.

Reviews I have read stated that the initial problems were corrected. Also you must use it on a board with the AM2+ socket or performance is reduced. But the price is right at Newegg.
