I have just purchased another 120GB IDE drive which matches my other one. I was considering a raid setup to make them one large 240GB drive. Has anyone tried this and would you recommend it? Has it made any difference?
Presently, I am running a PIII 1000 with W98SE with 512MB RAM and a 40MB drive for my OS and programs as Drice C along with an 80GB for Drive D and the 120GB for drive E.
I haven't had any problems with it.
I would be removing the 80GB drive and leaving the 40GB as drive C and the two 120GB drives in a Raid Array would become Drive D. My other slight hesitation is that if one of the drives craps out....Drive D is gone. Normally, I delete the video files after I use them anyway so I don't think that is a big concern.
I also have Partition Magic 7.0 which I haven't installed and Windows XP Professional which I am waiting on installing until the bugs are ironed out.
I rather like W98SE because it is predictable and relatively easy to fix when broken.
My real question is, however, about the Raid setup.
Thanks in advance,
John
