So I finally got the Canon HF10 - but I am still not ready to upgrade my Vegas to 8 (trying to wait for Version 9) So Of course with Vegas 7 I can't edit my funky AVCHD files. I have looked at Vasst's software to convert the files and some other tools recommended.

I have been using the AVS conversion software for various conversions from many different formats in the past. This tool does a whole lot more like prepare DVDs for my portable etc. and convert format REALLY quickly ...

I just got mail from them offering me an upgrade to the new version - that I just tested. I was able to convert AVCHD to Mpeg2 very quickly - and to my eye seems to be pretty good.

Can anyone who understands high-quality better than me - let me know if AVS's result is a good quality?

I would love to pay $19 and get a whole suite of tools that I can use even after I upgrade Vegas - then about $50 for something that I will not use after I go to Vegas 9
