Anyone using Sony Digital 8 TRV330 Cam?

MM2000 wrote on 9/25/2001, 6:11 PM
The studio has a new Sony TRV330 cam into an ADS Pyro 1394 digital i/o card into Vegas Video. We are not able to get video from camera into Vegas Video. We did not utilize the drivers that came with the card but let Win98SE assign the driver. It does not show up under Control Panel/System/Sound, video, game controllers. It does show up under Digital Scanner/Camera, though. Any ideas or recommendations how to get it to work?
Thanks, MM2000.

I have that same camera that I use with Vegas all the time. I use Win2K and as soon as I connected the camera it just worked.

For Win98, it is my understanding that the MS-DV codec and drivers are not installed by default and you have to install them from the Pyro CD.

I Thank YOu for your quick response, but I did load the Pyro driver, at least I think I did, I loaded it from the CD and was careful not to load any of the other software. Shouldn't I see it listed? It is listed as I originally stated. Any suggestions for a fix?

The older Vegas installers load the driver if it is missing. Vegas 2.0d/e/f/g/h require DirectX8 and the DV update component, which installs the proper driver.

It may be that you have a conflicting driver on your machine. Go here for extensive troubleshooting info:

Hello Sonic, I am using VV2.0g and need to upgrade, which I plan to do soon. I just tried to get things going utilizing what I have now without success. It is very frustrating...The information you mention, I have downloaded and printed. It does not list a Sony TRV330 cam, hence my question initially. On page 4 of the info, it states, "If you are running Microsoft Windows 98 SE,.........the preferred drivers to use are the MSDV.SYS drivers provided by Microsoft." From there it gives instructions how to change to Microsoft drivers. When we plug in the camera to the Pyro card, and turn on the camera, we can not get Sonic Foundry Video Capture to come up...if I understand correctly, it should detect my camera automatically. That is where the problems are. Help Please!

If your card is OHCI compliant and you used the drivers provided with the Operating System. In the device manager you should see the string "Microsoft Camera and VCR" once the camera/record deck is connected.

There is a good pdf on the subject including how to fix the ADS Pyro uninstaller.

Does your camera have DV out?
MM2000 wrote on 9/27/2001, 9:25 AM
Yes it does. When in record mode in Vegas, we actually record noise as the audio track, when actually there is digital audio and video. I believe maybe we haven't loaded something right...a driver...? As mentioned above, we do see in the driver section, Microsoft video camera/ scanner...so I am believing the driver is loaded. Is this correct?

You have to use Capture program
not the recording capability of VV.

Finally, with your help, Pacho, I know the reason I am having all these problems...I have not downloaded the Video Capture application. I feel really dumb. I was trying to get the camera to communicate while inside Vegas/file new/record. That is why it did not work. Thanks again for the help!

Also, click on the camera entry under Device Manager, (clk. on the main entry, then clk. on the device listed under it), to see if the drivers are properly installed. There are also two different driver options sometimes, Texas instruments and a MS OHCI 1394 driver, try each one if one doesn't work.
