Hi,
I've had a similar question about wanting to integrate various .veg files.......
In my case a two camera concert shoot-- its easier to work on one song at a time to make the syncing easier and when that song is finished I want to "add" it to the larger 'whole concert' .veg without any rendering.
With what you mentioned in earlier post:
would I "copy" off the timeline in one Vegas window and then "paste" into the other Vegas Window?
I think I tried to add a .veg file from Explorer onto a timeline and Vegas wanted to close out the current "open" project first, which in essance blocked me from adding a .veg file to a project.
Is there another way I should be doing this kind of "pasting"?
Open Vegas. Open one of your project. Open Vegas AGAIN. Open the other project. You now have two "instances" of Vegas open and you can freely copy and paste between them.
Hi,
Tried to do what is suggested above and it doesn't work.
I can't put one veg. file on the same timeline as another veg. file even when I had two Vegas windows (projects) open and tried to copy and paste from one to the other....
I'm always prompted to 'save' before closing the project I'm trying to paste to...
Therefore I haven't been able to put two veg. files into the same project.
Why are you trying to close the file? You open Vegas and open your destination project. You open a second copy of Vegas and open your source project. Select what you want copied and press CTRL-C. DO NOT CLOSE VEGAS - simply go to the copy running the destination project, select the proper area, and press CTRL-V.
I have tried what you suggested and it just won't work.
I had two Vegas's open ,each with a veg file on a timeline
When I 'copied' a veg file from one Vegas timeline and tried to 'paste' that in the second Vegas timeline (next to a veg file on that timeline) I am prompted to "save" first.
If I do that it closes the window and I can't do my paste. If I don't "save" the window just closes (without saving) and again I can't paste to the closed window so I'm not able to have two veg files on the same timeline no matter what I try.
What I really want to do is to "save" a region and be able to copy and paste that region into another Vegas project without rendering. I want to take that region with all its tracks (in my case a two camera shoot with two video and two audio tracks) and be able to "paste" that region in another project.
So far I have not been successful despite suggestions given. My Vegas keeps insisting on closing the project before allowing a "paste" from another open Vegas project as I mentioned above.

Here's my goal:
I have a performance video (shot with two cameras) that includes several different performance groups. I want to have each group get a copy of their entire performance (eventually on dvd) That part is easy!
I also want to make a compilation dvd which has about 10 minutes worth from each of the groups that performed that evening, which is why I've been trying to isolate a "region" from each performance and want to paste it onto a timeline with "regions" from the other performers to compose the compilation dvd.
Gads,,,,,, I hope this makes sense!
Thanks for any ideas,
Teaktart
In the open source project, simply do a CTRL-A CTRL-C to select everything and then copy it. Now go to the destination project, move the cursor to the end, and press CTRL-V. That should work with not prompts to save.
I'll be damned, I finally got it to work as you suggested!!
I still had some snags when it seemed to balk at the idea so I'm wondering if my Vegas is getting "stubborn" ?
I'm still cussing out the SP2 and all its "software FX"....!
Had to reinstall Vegas and once in while it still seems unwilling to do some processes at times.
I'll keep experimenting with this copy / paste method and see if I can figure out the discrepancies.
