Apply Wedio FX brightness and Contrast and has NO effect

I have reinstalled, tried different videos and at a TOTAL loss why I cannot brighten a video that was shot in a dark auditorium. FX shows NO effect! Watched YouTube videos too.

You might have FX Bypass enabled on top of your preview window.
