Applying a filter to a masked area

jeremyrfoster wrote on 9/30/2005, 6:36 PM
I want to apply a filter to a certain part of my frame as determined by a filter. I see in the help files that masks are good for (among other things) "limiting the effects of a filter", so I think it can be done. Can anyone tell me how to do this?

One way is to duplicate the track and add the FX to the top track (or event). Then use Pan/Crop on the top event to add a mask. The FX will only be visible in the mask area. The unprocessed bottom track will show through wherever the mask isn’t.
