applying media events to titles and text media in vegas pro 14

Let's say... I want to add a media event effect to text; to be clear, I'm not talking about adding a media event effect to video with text in the video. I want to know if there is a way to added media event effects to the lettering of text separate from the background the text is on.

For example, what if I wanted to use one of the effects from [Hitfilm TV Damage] media event and have one of those effects active within the letters and symbols of text so that the effect is only seen inside the lettering of the text itself and not the background on which the text is visible?

Keep in mind, I'm using Vegas Pro 14.

And, if this is possible but not in Vegas Pro 14, or any other Vegas Pro software, could you please direct me to the appropriate software?

Maybe I'm misunderstanding but if you have your text and background as separate Events on different tracks you should achieve what you want. The text event needs to have a transparent background and the actual background needs to be on a track below it.

So I tested it again. Some of the media event effects will target the chosen media (text in this case), while others will not.

For example, the [electrical interference] effect will not target the chosen media and will only apply to the background media itself. While [Ghosting] effect will target the chosen media and -- in this case -- apply itself to the text.

I think it would be really cool if I could set [electrical interference] effect in a background scene, then use the interior of letters, words and sentences as a translucent mask that would essentially only allow the [electrical interference] effect to be visible through the letters of text themselves.

I don't know if there is a plugin that could replicate that effect, but if there is that would be exceptional welcome as a tool for creative editing.
