Ok.
Sometimes I have to put up large MPEG-2 files (previously edited footage) into vegas, edit them... then make sure they fit on 1 DVD.. Choosing which bitrate to use to make the mpeg fit is a pain.. lot of guessing and time wated if you get it wrong.. I understand the new Architect has a fit to disk button so In theory I could render to AVI from vegas and then let Architect fit it to disc..
The problem with that is there is no control over the QUALITY settings Architect uses to fit to disk.. Can anyone tell me what sort of quality settings Architect uses when it has to compress or recompress video.. eg. from AVI to MPEG2. Does it do a rush job or does it use high quality settings.. Why is there no way to control the actual settings it uses? Anyone from Sony like to comment on this??
In other words.. which is best method to use when you know your project is going to be large?
1/. Render to DV AVI file in vegas and use Architect to recompress video to fit - MPEG-2 (but what settings does it use? as default)?
2/. Render to MPEG-2 using vegas with control over quality settings used but having to guess the bitrate.. Import MPEG-2 to architect and burn.
I am interested in the overall video final quality here...
Thanks.
