Archiving to external HD

I'm about to archive a lot of SD footage from a camera to a 2TB external HD in VMS folders, but for the life of me I can't figure out the VMS 8 Platinum settings to avoid the footage storing on the C/ drive as well. This will fill it up, I only want it saved on the external drive.

I can see the first test footage archived on the 2TB drive, but playing it on preview, it appears to come from the C drive. Can't figure it out yet, anyone help? Thx.

If you are reading from tapes, just tell the "capture" options on the side of the capture tab where to store. I am reading from tapes on my second hard drive too without a problem.

Start the Vegas Capture programme, go to 'preferences' and set the capture path to your external drive.

I'm capturing to an external lacie hard drive connected with usb2 without a problem too. Make sure your disk is not formatted fat32 but ntsf instead, so you can capture a whole tape in one go. (FAT32 is limited to 4GB file size, which is too small) You must format before you start using the disk (quick format will do the thrick), 'cause if you do it later, you will lose the data that is on it. Good luck!
