Argh! - Pixelation!

I'm new at Vegas.

I had a nice video all edited with composite level envelopes fading a layer of video in and out seamlessly against another video layer, and today I go to open it and now those fades go all pixelated!

I suppose I could have accidentally done this, but I don't think so. How can I get my composite fades to go back to smooth and unpixelated?

Also, when I open up a brand new project and add two layers of video to it then try to do a composite fade from one to the other, the effect still happens.

Stupid question here . .I'm known for it . . . What quality of Preview are you going with at the moment? I know Draft view shows pesky pixels.... If you are Previewing in anything above Draft and you still getting the pixels, then it must be something else . . .

. . .as I said it is a daft suggestion on my part . . . apologies if you are already using something above Draft view - yeah?
