Hi there. I'm about to try Photoshop to help me make buttons and arrows for my menus with alpha background. Is that possible to put these PSD files or whatever in one of the specific DVDA's folders? Will these buttons and arrows be highlighted as those ones that come along with DVDA?
Thanks in advance.
As far as I can tell, all of the graphics listed in the Buttons window (as well as those listed in the Backgrounds window) are there because they're all part of at least one theme. So the way to get them listed there is to create one or more themes that reference them. See Sony's themes page for more info on creating your own themes, if you want to open that hornets nest.
If you don't want to mess with themes just yet, despair not. You can simply save your buttons and arrows wherever you want (add a new subdirectory to the DVDA directory, if you like) and just add a button / arrow to the menu and change its Frame properties to point to your new graphic.

You said, "You can simply save your buttons and arrows wherever you want (add a new subdirectory to the DVDA directory, if you like) and just add a button / arrow to the menu and change its Frame properties to point to your new graphic. "
Can you resize a button or arrow or does it have to be designed to the proper size ahead of time. I might be missing something really easy in the procedure you describe. Care to elaborate?
Any graphic you add to a menu in DVDA (not including the background) can be resized. This includes buttons, frames, and arrows. Just click it once and drag the handles surrounding it. If you intend to do this, I recommend making your files as PNGs (but then, I would recommend that anyways -- I love PNG!). They'll look better resized than will GIFs.
When I add a png from the explorer to the menu, it becomes the background. When I add an arrow for example from the buttons bin, it is a resizeable object on the background. Again, I have to be missing something obvious. Sorry about that.
Add one of the standard buttons (from the button bin). Then go to the Properties window and find the Frame setting. Click the "..." and find your custom-made arrow.
