ASIO for audio

I have just bought the V4 software and want to get a nice audio set up.I am going to buy a MOTU 882 MKII firewire audio unit/interface.
The MoTU unit I think will work with ASIO drivers and understood that so would Vegas 4 support ASIO kit-but I can't find the ASIO option from a drop down menu it describes in the manual. It's all MS stuff.
It says only the full version will support ASIO drivers, I thought I had the full version.
Can anyone please tell me if they have got ASIO audio interfaces to work with Vegas Video 4 or do I now have to buy something else.

When you install the ASIO drivers for the sound device, they will appear as options in Vegas.

Lots of us here are using V4 with ASIO cards successfully. You may not be seeing anything in the V4 audio settings if you have no ASIO hardware presently installed. I am not aware of any versions of Vegas 4 that do not have ASIO support.

You may want to ask around for recommendations for the audio interface. The MOTU unit you mentioned may be just fine, but I have heard many horror stories about MOTU stuff on PC's. Choosing the right audio card/interface will make all the difference in the world. Good driver support is a must. I would not touch anything unless you have heard from others that it works well in ASIO with V4.

Good luck!

He is so right, .. "good driver support is a must" . . www.rme-audio.com products and drivers are now in good shape. I'm currently using DIGI96/8PRO, w Vegas 4, ASIO driver, with WinXPPro, works very well.

I'm using the 828 MkII successfully with V4 (on WinXP). When you install the MOTU drivers, it doesn't automatically install the ASIO driver (as it does with the WDM driver)...you need to select it during install. Disconnect the 828, reinstall the drivers, reboot, plug in the 828, and you should be good to go.
