Are you selecting the Widescreen template when you render? How letterboxed are they? Or are you referring to pillarboxing, where the lines are vertical on the sides vs horizontal on the top/bottom?

Thanks for the quick reply, I'm simply stumped by this. No, I'm going with a default template of 720X480X32. Actually, to be even more specific, I'm rendering it out to Quicktime and customizing the frame size to 320X240. And the lines I'm referring to are horizontal on the top/bottom. Actually, it doesn't matter what frame size I select, this letter boxing is always there. However, it doesn't show up in the preview window when I'm playing the clip from the timeline which makes it hard to figure out what to adjust.
What should I try?
Thanks

This is because you are rendering to a square pixel format from a non-square format. In the preview window, right click and select Simulate Device aspect ratio, and set your project settings to the same size you're rendering to. You'll see the letter boxing and can adjust accordingly.
You can also select "do not letterbox" when you render.
