Athlon 64 X2 upgrade.

I am running Sony Vegas Pro 8 on an Asus A8N-SLi motherboard with an Athlon 64 3700+ 939 cpu, with 2GB of PC3200 RAM. I'm considering upgrading my CPU to an Athlon 64 X2.

How much can/will Vegas take advantage of the dual core thing?

Say... an X2 3800+ vs. my current single core 3700+. It is like twice the power or it doesn't really work like that?

I have three machines, AMD 3200, 3800 X2, and 4600+ X2 and each one is visably faster than the other, particulary when you get to the X2's.

get a faster one instead:

get the fastest one you can, it will make a HECK of a difference. But x2 939's are getting REAL scarce. The time to upgrade was ~2 months ago when they were ~$80 each. Now, it might be cheaper/same price to get the AM2 CPU & same board, but in AM2 slot:

actuatly, it IS cheaper. That's an AM2+ board so it supports HT3 too.
