ATI card success and setting up XP for Audio/Video

Hello All,

A short success story then a question.....

I finally have a working (very stable) soultion using Vegas (I own Video 3.0 and Audio 2.0) and my ATI All-In-Wonder Radeon (also known as the video/capure card from hell). After MUCH fiddling, the right combination is...

- AIWR on it's own IRQ (forced through the BIOS)
- Latest Drivers from ATI
- Latest Multimedia Center from ATI
- Sound card drivers from the Windows XP install disk (I have a SBLive, a Turtle Beach Monterey, and a Yamaha Waveforce192XG... tried them all... all workwith the signed Microsoft drivers....
- Turn down video acceleration two notches under video troubleshooting
- 32 bit color
- Bump the audio buffers in Vegas up to about .75 of a second

WHEW!!! Once I came upon this config I suddley had a very stable system. Until this, I kept getting an error from windows that the ATI driver (or occasionally just a thread off of it) had gone into an infinate loop....

In a word, ATI products are built nicely (hardware)... but their drivers NOT for the faint of heart or inexperienced. By the way, the drivers that came on the Windows XP install disk for the AIWR worked perfectly stable BUT they did not support the TV out function of the card...thus the journey to find a stable config.

Anyway, maybe this will be helpful to someone else..

Now my question.. Does anyone know of a site that can help me tweak XP for maximum performance regading audio and video. I know all of the old tricks for Win9X/ME but don't know all that can be done to help XP.

Thanks again,
Karma
