ATI Crossfire Question

I have the Vegas Movie Studio 9 Platinum Pro Pack. Can someone in the know please tell me if this software supports ATI Crossfire?

Also, would I be better off having a single high quality video card (like an ATI HD 5870 1gb or having two slightly lesser cards running on Crossfire (ATI HD 5770 1gb).

Video card specs can be found here:

Thank you in advance for your help.

Vegas does not make any use of the GPU in any way whatsoever. If you're looking for video speed boosting then you won't do any better than buying a used 1995 era card for $3 from the recycled bin at the local computer hock shop.

If you're asking about multiple displays, Vegas pretty much uses whatever Windows is set up for. Windows can handle up to 9 displays spread across most any variety of video cards installed. If you can get a couple of $3 video cards cheaper than a new ATI dual-head card, go for it.

Thank you for the reply. I have been getting a lot of skipping while running HD video and I figured it was due to my graphics card.

I have an old computer 2.4ghz machine but only 1gb of RAM. Could RAM be the issue?

Any suggestions on how to get smoother video in the preview window?

A much faster processor will matter more than anything else. I've got dual-core 3GHz chips and they still stutter a little on HD.
