When attempting a forum search, more often than not, I get hundreds or thousands of hits--even with the "messages per page" set at 100.

There needs to be a better way to move back and forth within the data or even jump to the end.

I agree. A list of the pages you could jump to would be nice. I normally only get a few hundred though. :)

I was trying to find the first mention of "HDV" and got over 16,000 hits!

Being able to jump through result windows would help, but another thought... If there was a way to specify a date range, you could have narrowed down to find the first occurrence. The only search date options available specify how far back to start, but not a range. Most search tools give an option to specify something like matches between Jan 1, 1999 and Jan 1, 2003.

If the search tool had that feature, Jay could have narrowed down quickly to find the earliest post.
