Audio and Video are out of Sync

I record gaming footage. And the past 2 times Ive made a video during the process one of the files I import has the audio and video out of sync

They are .mpg files I am importing and they are on my harddrive.

The rest of the files are fine in the project but once the audio gets out of sync its been impossible for me to fix it without just ditching the audio all together.

The original files are completely fine. I played them in Movie Player to make sure it wasnt the files themselves and its not. Its only once I import them to Sony Vegas that it messes it up.

I have tried deleting the Peak file that Sony makes and tried removing and reimporting the files and it doesnt make any difference.

Is the sync difference constant throughout the entire file (as in, 2 seconds late at the beginning and also 2 seconds late at the end)? If so, click on the audio, press U to ungroup it and slide it left or right on the timeline to put it back in sync. Ctrl-click on the video and press G to group the audio and video back together.

If the audio runs faster or slower so that the difference changes from start to finish, use the above method to get the beginning in sync. Before regrouping, you can Ctrl-drag the end of the audio left to speed it up or right to slow it down in order to get the end in sync.

One thing that is really handy is to set up a repeating loop for a few seconds in the spot you're trying to resync. Make sure those few seconds contain some quick visible action and a sharp sound that go together. That way you can let the playback loop over and over again as you adjust the audio and it's much easier to get it lined up accurately.

The mpeg2/vob format has A/V sync issues with Vegas, this is a known bug which hasn't been fixed. I suggest you use another app, like the freeware SUPER or ffmpeg, to re-encode the files to Lagarith or Avid DNxHD which are lossless codecs, and then import them to Vegas.

Ive tried SUPER and everytime I try and convert a file it gives me an error.

Ive done tons of these videos with no problems up until now. Is there a Temp folder that sony keeps things in? Maybe if I clear everything out itll do better. Its messing up practically every video now I try and import.

Also its as if the Video is playing at double speed

after rewatching the videos that Ive imported I see how the audio and video are off track.

The video is playing faster than it should. Is there any way to correct this? Or any reason that its playing faster? I havent changed any settings that I know of. I went back and put default settings on everything.

The video plays fine in Windows media player. It only messes up when its imported. If I can make the video play at normal speed then everything will be fine
