Audio and Video not in sync!

Well, I have a new problem. After getting video from VHS on to my computer via Dazzle, the audio does not match the video! (when opened in Vegas) So far the audio and video are fine when I take it straight from my analog camera using dazzle.... so I have not run into this problem before... any help would be greatly appreciated...

The Dazzle system is a USB-based hardware/software combo that really is made to be used exclusively with its software. You really need to use a firewire capture system, like the ADS Pyro AV Link, to capture DV-AVIs for Vegas.

When MPEGs are used as source files, you quite often see the problems you're having. Sorry.

There are three different ways the sync can be off.

1) the audio could be before or after the video
2) the audio could be running at a different speed than the video
3) there could be bits missing from either the audio or video track, so the sync will jump as you pass these bits.

#3 is rather difficult to handle, and also rather uncommon, so i'll hope you're not having that issue and stick with the first two items.

#1 If the audio isn't lined up with the video you can select the audio, type U to ungroup it, and then slide it left or right on the timeline to make it match the video.

#2 If the audio and video start in sync (or you've done #1 above to line up the beginning), you can Ctrl-drag the end of the audio track to make it match the speed of the video track. If the audio is too slow you can Ctrl-drag the end to the left to speed it up. If it's too fast you can Ctrl-drag the end to the right to slow it down. You could also leave the audio alone and change the video track, but this will substantially increase the rendering time so it should be avoided if at all possible.

If it is #3, then you are probably stuck finding where the missing bits are, splitting the event, and inserting empty time to get the rest to line up again. It may actually be faster and easier to try recapturing instead.
