audio choppy in timeline, fine in trimmer

I just upgraded from Vegas Pro 10 to Vegas Pro 11. First thing I did was open an existing V10 HD project in V11. The audio track associated with imported HD video is choppy in the timeline. There are just random cuts of sound here and there. There is more silence than there are chops of sound. However, if I play any of the same clips in the trimmer, the audio is all there and it plays fine.

Then I went back to Vegas Pro 10 and opened the same project. Now the audio is doing the same thing there. I didn't save any changes after opening in V11. I'm not saying that V11 caused this, but whatever the cause, I need to know how to fix it.

Also, I opened an existing V10 SD project in V11 and the audio was fine on the timeline.

FIXED: After tediously making all kinds of adjustments to all kinds of audio settings with no success, I switched to a USB sound card rather than the built-in card. It's working fine now.

Glad it's fixed. Out of curiosity, was the onboard sound an ASIO driver ? Is the USB one ?
