Audio crossfade

I need to do a mix of the audio channels and quickly fade at the end. Is there a way to do this without creating a new audio track? Normaly when you overlap a piece of audio one fades in from -inf and one fades out to -inf. I would like to know If I could go to/from -4 db in lieu of having the audio totally fade out.

I think the only way would be to use 2 tracks. If you really wanted to use 1 track (say you're using Vegas LE and are limited to 4 audio tracks) you could make your 2 track -4db fade, render as a WAV, then import it into your project.
