audio different after export (with good settings)

Edit: Im using Movie Studio 12. Sorry if this in the wrong section.

Exporting a project with heavy audio edits (about 10 tracks of audio) for a video. However after exporting, the audio quality seems to be lower then that in the editor. Specifically I mean some sounds are lower or higher than when listening in the timeline. For example, if the sound of a car door shutting can be heard just fine in the editor timeline over the music and other sounds, but after exporting you cannot hear it all as the music and other sounds drown it out. As if the levels have been changed during the export?? Is there something I'm missing here.

I am exporting the video in a sony mp4 format, 1080 at 16Mbps and the audio at a bitrate of 256 ~ stereo.

It normally would sound slightly different after rendering to a lossy audio format.
Is this through the same set of speakers ect.? Different speakers, environment and other variables 'could' make a huge difference in the way a mix sounds.

I'll go one step further. When rendering to a lossy audio format, test renders are always necessary.
