Audio Editing Problem

Last night, I wanted to cut the front end of a song off and fade the track in under my picture. But every time I trimmed the clip, I lost the fade tool.

I'm in a hurry to meet a deadline. So, I'm having to go outside of Vegas to trim and fade the clip and re-import the edited version of the song. But I don't understand why this happened.

Why can't you trim and then fade from the split point? I don't remember this being an issue. Did my project get corrupted? It's been open for 5 straight days now.

Why are you trimming (splitting)?

Grab the leading/trailing edge of the clip and click-drag it to your desired in/out points (up to the boundaries of the original event). The fades move right along with it.
Done.

Just tried what you explained and it worked fine. How about just adding a volume envelope with points to make your fade.

Thanks, I'll try both suggestions.

The fade GUI on the event can be difficult to see if the event is zoomed out (small and narrow).
