Audio envelope won't show

vicmilt wrote on 4/20/2010, 1:31 PM
This is some sort of addition to a prior post.

In that one, I couldn't see the Video Envelope>Event Velocity envelope.
I fixed that (with kind help from forum) by Shift Clicking "Preferences" and setting "Show Envelopes" to true.

The prefs are still that way, but now I can't see the Audio Envelope>Volume line.
The Volume Envelope menu item shows as "Clicked".

Never had these problems before and I use these two items all the time.

Can someone lead me to a better land???

If my memory serves me well, press V for show/hide volume envelopes and P for pan envelopes.

I'm assuming Vic is using "V" to get the volume envelopes or using the "insert" menu to get it ( if not Bob's suggestion will do it) -- but if it's just not showing up then since Vic's other internal setting somehow got changed from the default let's see about the Track envelopes setting:

Click OPTIONS.
Hold down the shift key.
Click Preferences
Click Internal (upper right tab)
In the search box at the bottom, enter "show track envelopes"
Click in the "Value" field (at the top) and enter TRUE.
Click Apply (at the bottom)
Click OK.

Ya know...

I don't know if the other editing programs have the support that Vegas inspires on this site... (and quite frankly, I don't CARE!).

But if this forum was ever to close down - well, I don't know how much longer a guy like me would LAST!

Let's face it - they are ALWAYS upgrading and changing the programs (and that's a good thing) - but not SO good to a person like me with congenital memory deficiency (I just don't listen... or even give a damn!)

Anyway... "V" it is AND "show track envelopes" - just for good luck.

Thanks guys! ... (and who WERE those masked men??)
BTW - Bob - do you "get" the above "old-timer Lone Ranger" references?

:>)) am smiling in a BIG way...

I got it.

How did I know about the V and P thing?
I'd struggled with a project with a huge number of envelopes getting in the way and I asked here. Very quick response that made my life so much easier being able to hide them at will.

One other tip. Buy a Vegas keyboard, those keys are clearly labelled.

I guess it's time for me to break down and spend a penny...

which one do you recommend?

I've got the classic one from Logickeyboards:

http://www.logickeyboard.com/shop/pc-classic-keyboards-827c1.html

Works well, engraved keytops. They've now got two other choices. The actual keyboards that they're using as the basis for their product seem to be reasonable keybords.
