Does Vegas Movie Studio not support lots of types of music file types? Half of the music on my hard drive isn't showing up that I want to use in editing my movies. Any help would be appreciated.
A simple work around that I have used is to take my ITunes file and burn it to a CD. Then I copy the song from the CD to my hard drive using Windows Media Player. This, in effect, converts the song from ITunes format to a Windows format that VMS accepts with no problem.
I use a program called Smart Audio Converter , a product of Smartsoft. You can download a free version( 60% capbility). I have not tried converting MP4 so I am not sure that it will convert that format.
I think in ITunes (ITunes 7 for WinXP) you can import/convert the files to wav-format.
In ITunes goto Edit - Preferences ..., Advanced - Importing: Import Using ... and select Wav Encoder. In Settings select "Custom" and you can define Sample rate and Sample size.
Now when you import audio CD, it will be imported in wav-format. You can convert the audio files in your ITunes library by selecting the file and in the popup menu you should have "Convert selection to WAV".
