okay, first off there's no budget, but if you're ever in the hunter valley, there's a dinner waiting ;-)

(yes bob, if you decide to give it a whirl, you can add it to the already long list of dinners i already owe you!)

the story - doing a low budget trainer for a community org. up here. all went well, but what with no soundman, and f'd hearing on my part, and having warned everyone to turn their bloody mobiles off, i get back to find this on the only take:

http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=a76068174da7f53bd2db6fb9a8902bda

i've had a go at cleaning it up, but my wife tells me it's still noticeable (just!) - but as stated above, my hearing is shot.

if anyone would like to have a go (practice?), i'd be more than happy to use as clean a copy as i can get.

hey, i'll even give you a credit!!!! ;-)

tididit, bloody marvelous!!!!

i played it LOUD, and even had my wife listen a few times (goodness, she must be so bored to death checking my audio!), and she couldn't believe it.....

you're a life saver.

where are you based?

dinner is on me!

again, many thanks,

De nada. Chalk one up for iZotope RX.

I'm in Florida.

I thought I'd wait for someone with RX to come to the rescue :)
Only reason I don't have RX is I haven't needed it....yet.

I think i would leave it in,,, just what the speaker is talking about.. make sure its charged up :)

Having used SoundBooth and Audition and messed with screwed up audio, I thought that was pretty impressive too. $349 - not cheap - but when you need it - impressive, Maybe digital juice will get it on their half price specials.

Once you have it, you discover that it creates its own need. You catch yourself doing things just because you can.:)

It definitely changes your definition of what is hopeless.

again tididit, many thanks indeed.....

i just wish i'd had rx when i also had hearing - we could have ironed out many a problem ;-)

well winrock, that was my first line of approach after finding out it was the speakers mobile getting a message (she'd turned it to vibrate mode). but, as you can imagine, she didn't see the irony of it, or the 'prompt' it might have given her message.

and again, this board has come up trumps - i'm so thankful to have so many talented people just a keyboard away....

tididit - you got me thinking about something - and while this isn't critical as it was just hot coming into a second camera - it is HOT.... and I am wondering what RX can do - I think if it can fix this - or make it acceptable - I would gladly put the money out to have it on hand...

So if you don't mind..... when you have time.....if you have time, any chance of running this through your magic ??

Not in Florida - but we have a cabin on a lake in Colorado - and we welcome vacationers !

Wow, that's bad!! In my hands, anyway, RX cannot make it anything but hopeless. Sorry.

I would recommend paying a little attention to incoming levels -- before recording. But you already knew that.

Thanks for trying. Like I said, It's old throw away audio, but I just thought it would be a good test for RX. Had it been able to help it, that would have been ultra impressive.

ushere,

In case you're in a bind again budget-wise and need a free and on the whole rather decent community based online audio and sound fx library, try Soundsnap. Note: It used to be totally free up to Dec. 08, now it's 5 free downloads a month. There are some generous pros donating all kinds of clips there.

hey soniclight, you angling for a free dinner? ;-)

looks like a great site - i'll dive in and have a listen (though any finesse on the composers part will probably be lost with my hearing....)

and writing of hearing - i have to wonder what this (and the last generations hearings going to be like when they hit 50+. there's a few 'youngsters' i know now who i can see 'listening' very carefully when i teach - and as i know i'm not that charismatic a teacher, i asked. seems they have problems hearing (their in their early 20's) my 'deep' voice. most of my students don't have such problems.....

oh well, there's little worth listening to nowadays i supoose......
