Audio Level changes

I am trying out Vegas 3 demo-so far so good. Regarding audio- How are audio changes e.g. Volume adjustments recorded in the event waveform.i.e How are real time audio volume changes 'rubberbanded' or 'enveloped' as it were. I keep readind the PDF file but I cant see how to record audio changes quickly. I must be missing something here. I don't think it is an RTFM situation, but a little help here would be great.Rest of the program looks good to me.
Many thanks.
John

right click an empty part of the track inquestion and pick volume envelope. When the line shows up, right click it or double click it and do your way with it

Thanks for the reply. Sure I am aware of the volume line, adding markers etc.but I can't achieve my goal. I'll may as well stick with Premiere-pity.
Many thanks.
Cheers

Are you talking about the volume line in the event? or are you talking about the volume envelope on a track?

I only wanted to know if it was possible to create an audio envelope automatically
during playback or do points on the envelope curve have to be added manually?
Sorry to be a bore, I obviously did not make my original query clear enough.

ahh! you want the "draw envelope" functions like in cubase? Veas wont do that.

Thanks for the reply. So how do I get accurate audio volume changes recorded back on the timeline without more hardware?

Using nodes on the volume envelope will give you *very* accurate control. If you feel the need to contruct a 'curve', then the in-between bits will be straight lines and will depend on how much detail you put in.

The only time I have felt the need to do this is in contructing radical custom fades using the volume envelope.
