Audio Mixing

I'm working on a dance megamix and I have a question: How
can I mix 2 songs together where the bass kick from the
second song would *GRADUALLY* replace the bass kick from
the first song? Hope you know what I mean...

So the basic quastion is: How can I control track bass
frequencies with an envelope?
I've tried playing with assignable FX but nothing worked
the way I wanted, help please!

tnx, EFX

What you are refering to is beat-mixing, and I've never
tried it on the computer. I am quite familiar with doing
it live, as I make my living as a pro DJ! The trick is to
get both songs to the same tempo, or beats per minute.
First figure out the tempo of each song by actually
counting the beats for a full minute. You will need to
stretch or compress the second song to match the tempo of
the first song - ideally, you want to just stretch the
first part where your mix occurs, then return the tempo to
it's original speed after the mix is complete. My problem
on the computer has always been the math, I can adjust a
song manually with a turntable or CD player by listening to
the tempo, but on the computer you need to stretch or
compress by a cretain % to make the songs match. If you
figure out a formula for this, please share it with me!
