Audio not in sync with Video

I have captured a video and copied it into a VF project. I did some minor editing (added a title and end frame, then created a movie using Windows Media format at 3Mbps. When I play back, I find that the audio is a little bit ahead of the video. I tried again without any editing--same effect.

I tried to shift the audio track slightly to adjust, but could move the audio without also moving the video. Is there any way to correct this situation?

What i do to separate the audio from the video is this:
- drag the clip onto the timeline.
- click on just the audio part of the clip
- press [Delete] to delete the audio
- drag the clip onto the timeline again, placing the video in the overlay track
- click on just the video in the overlay track
- press [Delete] to delete the video
you now have two separate events, one audio and one video, which you
can move around independantly of each other.

What are the specs of your computer? I had some sync problems with
various types of compressed media on my old 350MHz AMD, but now on
my 866MHz P3 i never have any troubles with sync.

Thanks,

I copied the audio to soundforge where I did some filtering to eliminate noise. Then I deleted the audio from VF and copiedin the new track from sound forge. That seemed to do the trick.

I am currently running a PIII at 866 Mhz with 256 Meg ram. The "out of sync" is only a fraction of a second, but still noticable. It appeaars to be a constant shift from the very beginning. Being delay the audio trach slightly seems to do the trick.

There's an easier way. Just select both tracks by holding down the CTRL key and clicking both video and audio tracks. Then press "U" to Ungroup them.

I noticed this same sync problem with this format, but it seemed to be related to the speed of the box, not the video file itself. I was able to view a 3Mb WMF file just fine on a P4 1.4GHz box. The same file on a P3 500MHz played out of sync.
