Audio of speaking man using computer mic sounds like he's in shower

Greetings !

I'm trying to figure out how to de-echo this audio track. I didn't include the video because it's immaterial to the problem at hand. I appreciate your input. There are lots of options to add echo in VP19, now I need to get rid of this crummy quality...the 'noise gated' computer microphone feature certainly doesn't help. If I can get rid of the echo, some drastic EQ can help... yikes... THANKS !

Me and my brother had to de-echo some similar sounding clip a few months ago.

We haven't found a good and effective method.

Maybe there is some better solution out there, but we just played around with the compressor and the frequencies, so the audio doesn't escalate on every freq. Sounded a bit better, but we ended up filming the scene again. Sadly, it will not sound the way you want it to sound :(

Do you have Sound Forge? I'm not that familiar with it, but I can imagine there are some other and more advanced options.

You can try using some music under it, so it doesn't stick out that much. Sorry I couldn't help you pal
