Audio off on project-newbie question

Hi-I'm a newbie with Movie Studio 12 Platinum Suite. I am beginning to learn how to edit events involving a video and audio track on the timeline, but keep finding that after I try some basic moves like opening the event in the trimmer window that the audio is off even tho the sound appears in the master bus. I also see a message saying media offline. What am I doing wrong?

What model of camcorder is your video coming from and what format and resolution is it?

Have you set up your project so that the Video Project Properties match the video you're trying to edit?

It also might be helpful to list the processor your computer has, what operating system you're workign with and how much RAM you have loaded onto it.
