Audio Only DVD - Basic help needed

I've never been that into making DVD's - usually just use the single movie option - all I want to do is reproduce good video from my DV footage.

I also do a lot of audio - and this weekend, finished editing in Vegas 6 a 3.5 hr project I need to deliver to a client for his review. I put this project together in V6, used track region markers to separate the selections, then, tried rendering to AC3 and also to MP3. In both cases, I set v6 to save the project markers.

Now, I'd like to import this project into DVDA3, and have those markers act as chapters or something similar, so that the client can navigate through the selections as he wishes.

I can't make those markers show up in DVDA3, nor can I add markers from within that ap. So, pardon me if I'm not quick enough to get this on my own, but how would I go about completing this task?

One more thing - I guess I could have rendered each tune separately, then imported a song list - but I have each tune overlapping in my vegas6 file, so that one tune fades into the next.

If the markers are on the timeline (not embedded in the media file or in a nested VEG) you should be able to render to MPEG-2 with a check in the box (in the Render As dialog) that says to include project markers in the media file. DVDA will pick those up.

Alternatively, you can use a script that exports the markers from the timeline directly to a file that DVDA will recognize. This is an amazingly useful feature because often you want to change markers -- which is FAR easier to do in Vegas -- but you don't want to change (and re-render) any of the audio or video. Also, if you ever frameserve, the markers never get created in the first place.

Thanks for the response. Vegas6 is definitely not including project markers for me. Don't know if it's me or if it's V6 - I have that box checked to include markers - no joy so far. Have downloaded the script you recommended - thanks, will give it a try.

I must still be doing something wrong. Downloaded that script, ran it, renamed it (for V6 as suggested), and the file report that resulted shows only one chapter maker was generated.

That must mean I'm doing something wrong in V6. (I think).

The markers in my veg file are cd track region markers. Will these not be picked up as chapter markers in DVDA30?

Is there a way to designated V6 markers as chapter markers?

As far as I know, it's only "normal" Markers which carry into DVDA, not Audio Track markers.

Aha -- you've figured it out, yourself! CD regions are different from chapter markers -- they're used to create tracks on audio CDs, which are burned from within Vegas.

You should still be able to go back into your project and add regular markers -- you can just position the cursor at the appropriate point on the timeline and hit the "m" key. If you type in a name, the name will also appear with your marker as a chapter in DVDA-3.

After that, you can either re-render to a new mp3/ac3 file, or use the script to write the markers to an sfl file.

I actually haven't done written an audio DVD, so I can't say with certainty that it will work, but it's the approach that I'd take.

My apologies to anyone following this thread - I wasn't thinking and started another related to this topic - should have kept all my posts here.

I deleted the CD markers and replaced them with regular generic markers - the script then proceeded to find all 60 markers.

So, now that I have that script file (I mean the file that results from running the script), what do I do with it?

How do I use it with DVDA3 to get chapter points to show in my DVD audio only project?
