!audio only render not accurate!

I am having a major problem rendering a 40 minute audio file. Original files are 48k 24 bit, a mono vo track, SOT, and a stereo music bed. Lots of automation, eq, compression, etc.

the timeline sounds great when you play it, but when you render, it is not at all the same. Harsh highs, levels are different, etc.

Nothing I have tried has worked. If I render a small portion of the file, it renders like it should, but everytime I try to render the whole thing, it gives me these problems.

Any ideas?

I guess I'll try to render 10 minute chunks and then stitch it back together. My fear is that I get a frame or two off and then I'm screwed when this lays back to AVID video.

Are you rendering to a new track, then playing it back in addition to the original audio?

Ok, I found a workaround. I rendered to .avi and it worked like it should. All automation, effects etc. are placed properly. Something is up with the .wav rendering.

No Gary,

Close old project, open new...no effects in new timeline.

I have done that one before though!!

So the workaround is to render to .avi, then a subsequent re-render to .wav 48k 24bit works.

Go figure...

I nearly ALWAYS do an AVI render prior to any further rendering. - G

Grazie, even when you have no video?

You should report this to Sony.

Yep, I guess I should. I have always had better luck here in this forum than with formal requests. I'll give it a go anyway.

The reason for doing it is not necessarily to get a better answer than what you got here, but instead it is a good idea because, if it is a bug, the only way it will get fixed is if Sony knows about it. They don't read every post on this forum (although many people assume they do).
