Audio out of sync when I capture [Vegas 4]

Bluetongue wrote on 2/25/2005, 1:28 AM
Hi guys . Been using Vegas 4 for about 7 months...LOVE IT except the capture component.
It's been hit and miss when it comes to capturing... somtimes the audio is in sync... sometimes it aint! Plus when I rewind or fast forward to look for the shot I want to capture... it locks up and I have to close the capture window and open it again... If anyone could shed some light - I'd be extremely grateful.

Cheers

When do you notice this? If you preview out to ext Monitor then you have the option to adjust the synch. If you are seeing this on the Vegas Preview Window then wait for another answer.

HOW are you capturing? Via firewire???

Thanks for your interests... I'm viewing on the vegas window and I'm using fire wire to capture.

I've also used Premier and other packages on my current computer and never had any issues... it just seems to be Vegas...
Could the vid cap program be corrupt?

cheers

I didn't think it could go out of sync using firewire. ??? I thought AVI stood for audio/video interweave, meaning the audio and video are locked together every few frames. You'll need the real experts to chirp in.

It's got me stumped!

It's so annoying... I've even thought about using premeier full time but I've found Vegas so easy to use, apart from this capture issue.
Thanks for your thoughts.

Is the audio out of sync AFTER capture? It is normal to APPEAR to be out of sync During capture if you are monitoring the video on the computer, but the audio from the playback device.

Thanks, I haven't sussed that out yet... I just assumed it'd be out. A lot of the time I just stop capture - wait a few seconds then capture again and it seems to work properly. Still can fast foward or rewind without the vision locking up on preview screen.
I'll check it out... thanks again.

Capture with Scenalyser...

What is Scenalyser?

Well... actually let the capture go through... and then check out the final AVI that you end up with. Just capture maybe a couple of minutes and check it out. I've never had a problem with audio being out of sync when it has been captured via firewire.

>>> What is Scenalyser?<<<

AKA - SCLive. It is a capture utility. It has just been updated to version 4. Captures TC info that Vegas can read as well as other NLE's. New version has several nifty things. For sure worth checking out - free demo of both versions is available. (but keep in mind the newest verison is still in Beta)
