Audio playback distortion on Acer Nitro 5 laptop

Just purchased new Acer Nitro 5 series laptop, well exceeds VP minimum specs. After initial install, audio playback was severely distorted on right speaker. Looked on VP FAQ & Community, found post regarding settings. Settings OK, but I went to “Advanced” tab and unchecked “Enhance Audio”, and since audio played back well, I thought problem was solved.

But after rebooting, problem continued even though new setting hadn’t reverted back. Reinstalled Windows, reinstalled VP, repeated three more times over the course of two days, changing multiple audio settings that would help playback at that moment, but would always fail after rebooting.
One engineering friend suggested “just change those advanced settings every time you boot up”. No thanks! There has to be a solution or, something is wrong in the hardware department.

I’ve been using VP since vs. 3, and I’ve always built my own desktop machines since ‘89, so this one really stumps me. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Is the behavior the same with other playback devices?
Try another Audio Device type in "Options> Preferences> Audio Device", though I would surmise it's a global Windows issue.

My Dell XPS laptop had default Waves audio 'enhancement' software installed wich was integrated to the internal Realtec card which forked up the sound until I disabled it.

Yes, same behavior with Windows Media Player. Being a new machine, I didn’t go beyond that or I would still be testing even now! Also, depending on what point of settings changes or rebooting I would be in, the right speaker would have no sound at all. Very confusing!

What is your Audio Device set to in VP and in Windows?

Look at the Win 10 'sound' settings and disable, remove or or uninstall any audio 'enhancement' software that is enabled by default.

Thank you everyone for your posts and concerns about my “challenges”.

After trying several versions of audio settings, even reinstalling Windows 10 as well as VP19 multiple times, I’ve determined that something is not right in the hardware department of this particular laptop.

And so, I’m on my way to return it!

Again, many, many thanks!!!
