audio plays a poping sound when previewed or rendered in vegas.

Can anyone help me, i am having a very annoying problem when my previewing and rendering, when i preview the video it creates a very annoying poping sound every few seconds, this same problem occurs once the video has been rendered, i belive this is a vegas issue because videos i have rendered in other software do not do this. my captured videos do not do this and downloaded media files do not do this, can anyone please help me get rid of this poping noise? Thanks.

What version of Vegas?
What audio hardware are you using?

Vegas video version 3
Audigy 2 Platinum soundcard

also, i belive this may have been caused by the installation of the LAME acm codec? however when i uninstalled the lame codec, the problem persisted, so i am not sure if it was the codec or not. I had a large problem with trying to get mp3 coded audio to recognize in vegas, after messing with codecs for awhile, i finnally got back to the orginal Fraunhofer IIS MPEG Layer-3 Codec (Advanced), but then i found out that i cannot encode mp3 in any good quality so i downloaded lame, which did not work at all, please note that this problem also occurrs when redering at all formats. Please help!

I was hoping you were gonna say vegas 4 :) but oh well

make sure there are fades on the edges of your audio and make sure any crossfades arent at a place where both excursions are moving the same direction

im not sure if i understand you correctly by placing fades at the edge of the audio, i placed some transition fades at the edges of the file but that did not help, also, there are no crossfades in this video as it is only 1 clip i am working with right now in order to repair this problem. Please help!

are the project audio settings set exactly correctly for the audio of the video ?

im not sure what you mean, but here is my guess, if i go to file, properties, this is the project properties, i adjusted the audio to match the input, however there is no affect, please help!

if you right click the audio events, they oughtta say 44.1k 16 bit or something...whatever they say, make sure the project properties matches that ...there are lots of exceptions to the rule, and one of the real strong points of vegas is that you CAN use different file types in the same mix, but try to avoid it if you can

ok, i just set the settings so that they are exactly alike, for both audio and video, and i still get the same problem.
