Audio pref prob ..

Hej get this one folks. if I stat a new session of Vegas I get no audio - neither in the Trimmer or TL.
On the other hand if I start an older project file close it and stat a new project without closing the program everything is fine. I've naturally searched various Preferences but can see no differences either in Properties or Options >> Preferences >> Audio >> Audio Device etc ...

Any clues?

What sound card? Is something else using the sound drivers? other app not releasing the drivers? Which version of Vegas?

Still have a Sound Blaster and it just could be it's being "used" or been tampered with (long story) Vegas 5.0b
But for the life of me can't find anything out of the ordinary ....
