Audio Problems

I have a really strange new problem with the audio. All my old .vegs open and play the audio perfectly but when I open a new project although the meters show the audio on both the track and the master stereo output there is NO SOUND. I have checked in the audio preferences and the settings are exactly the same as my old saved projects which play perfectly. Im in a mess here as I need to get working on a new edit HEEEEEELLLLLLPPP

Have you check which audio device you have selected in Vegas ? That is not something that is saved in a project file.

What happens if you preview an audio file in Vegas Explorer ?

Similarly, I assume you have checked that you have not accidentally dragged the volume slider in the track header or inserted a volume envelope & dragged it down to mute the track, hit the mute button in the track header or muted the windows volume accidentally in the task bar or applied a plug in that has a volume muted?? I know from experience ....... :-)

The other thing to check is that you have not muted the Master bus (the little white circle with blue line through it , just above the master levels).

Is there any activity in the master buss meter. If so, a post Vegas issue.

Hi thanks. The audio settings are exactly the same in the new project as the old ones that do play audio. However I have just previewed a clip in explorer and there is no audio. I have opened an old project that plays audio and previewed the clip and that of course plays.??

Thanks but both the track meter and the stereo master output meters are kicking well up showing the audio is getting to the output.???

This sounds (no pun) like an audio PB device setting on the master buss. Confirm it's assigned correctly by clicking the PB device routing icon on the buss.
If the file would not play, no meter activity would be seen.

No plugins on the Master in the new project(s) ? If there are is there a mute or a zero level setting in the plugin ?
