audio ram

how much ram is needed to effectively used audio programs (with a 2.0 p4 processor), especially manipulating 50mb - 100mb files with sound forge 6? is there a limit to the ram sound forge needs or is more always better?

I use 256Mb of RAM and having "ok" operation with audio softwares. 512 would be better... and the more you get ram the better it will be.
