Audio recording isn't working out

am trying to record a voice over in Vegas MS Plat 9.0
I have it set up according to the instructions, I see wave file going onto the timeline as I speak but when I click on "Done" in the display window when I finish, the timeline goes to brown and the wav forms disappear. I look in the folder where I assigned them and they show up, but when I load them they are very very thin and have nothing on them> Wass Upp wit Dat?

Among the FX is there one that will boost digital audio by a certain number of DBs?

I am having exactly the same problem as StudioLord with trying to record a voiceover track. No matter what I've tried doesn't seem to work. I have a microphone that will record wave files on Windows recorder and on audacity and other programs on my computer. I have just installed the Sony Vegas Studio platinum 9.0 B.. I've tried almost everything and can't do the voiceover. Anyone got any clue as to what might be the problem?

I also have Sony Vegas Studio Platinum 6.0 installed. I bought the 9.0 B. as an upgrade to that. But the 9.0 B. installed as a separate program. Would this be a problem having both of them installed on the same computer?. Would it affect the voice sound recording?.

Double-posted this response for the benefit of the OP:

If you see the waveforms when recording, but flatlines when done, it means it is not writing the temp file to the folder you chose in the first step.

Make sure you have administrator priveleges, turn off UAC in Vista, and see this thread about Kaspersky to get more clues towards pinpointing the issue.
