I'm trying to make my first home video with my Sony Vegas Movie software and I'm having problems with audio, I 'm adding to my home video recording of my kids some clips that I recorded with my camcorder from a movie
on my tv on the timeline and it shows up on video and on voice for the sound plus I have a WAV on the music section off the timeline but when I want to burn it to DVD and send it to DVD Architect only the music (wav) records but not the Voice and sound from the movie clip,am I missing something?
I hope I explained it clearly , please advice
Thanks in advance.

Whew! A little punctuation may have made it clearer, CGH!

But, that said, back up a step and see if you can isolate the problem. Make Movie an AVI of your timeline and see if it has sound problems -- at least then you'll know if the problem is in your editing program or your DVD program.

Also, is the DVD sound problem present when you play your DVD on your computer as well as when you play it on your TV?

Finally, a simple question: Are all your sound clips on separate tracks? Is the volume switched on for all three? Is the volume level of one overwhelming the other?

Thanks grisetti,
what I did is ,directly from Vegas I sent it to DVD Architect and when I preview my movie that's when I found out that only the music WAV was coming out and not the audio from the movie clip but I did not yet burned my movie into a DVD
Thanks again

Thanks again.

I'm not sure I'm following this - you have a home movie (video + audio?) and you're adding the tv recording (video + audio) and you've got music. It seems we're dealing with 3 audio tracks here, not 2. Can you clarify that, please?

the home movie does not have audio, only the clips wich I videotaped from a movie and they were added at the beginning of the movie and the end and the music plays in between the 2 clips througout the rest of the movie
thanks again

ok , I just did a test,I video taped my barking dog for 2 minutes captured it and placed the clip on the video timeline and the barking sound went automatically to the voice and then I added a wav to the music section, previewed it the barking and music plays fine, clicked on make movie /save to hard drive and when I open the mpeg file there's no sound coming out

CGH, are you shooting digital video and bringing it into your computer using firewire.

If you are using something other than a DV cam (say a DVD cam or analog camcorder) the bridging device could be the problem.

Can you confirm what type of camcorder you're using and how you're getting your video into the computer?

i'm not an expert here, but let me suggest that you save the file as an .avi vice mpeg. then open it and see if you have sound. open it in Windows Media Player if it doesn't play in MS.

I am currently trying to extract just the audio tracks from a few concert DVD's . i have had problems with MS4 displaying the audio track from either the VRO or VOB renamed to .mpg. when i convert these files to an AVI, the audio is now present in MS4. I believe i have read here that when opening an .mpg file, the audio must be opened seperately--iow MS4 does not bring in the audio with the video from an mpg file....

maybe this is not your problem, but give it a try...

Grissetti,I'm using a Sony DV camcorder thru Firewire capturing is not the problem since I can hear the audio when I preview my movie on the timeline on Sony Vegas Studio, it's when I burn it to DVD or save it to the hardrive and opening it either on windows media player or DVD Architect that's when I get no sound.
Ronatsony how do I save it to AVI
Thanks.

Under Make Movie/Save to Hard Drive/ you have the file path, followed by Format. In the format dropdown, is "Video for Windows (*.avi)". Click on this.

As mentioned in another thread, avi files take a lot more disk space than mpegs, but they preserve the fidelity--pix and audio.

Choose a "Template" which in the states would most likely be NTSC DV or NTSC DV widescreen. if you choose the top entry, "Default Template" your file will be HUGE and take a long time to render---i'm not sure why--but i don't think there is any reason to use it for home video....

Unlike saving your Project where the original file is not altered, saving this, will only save the results of your editing, iow, the stuff you have removed will disappear...

Well ,thanks everyone for your help, I did some searching on this forum and found out that there's an update, ver 4.0a for Vegas Movie Studio that fixes some bugs on version 4.0 which is what I have, so I download it and tried the burning process again and finally the audio it's working now.
